Christian Education

St. Paul's Episcopal Church of Key West

We have a fairly small, wonderful group of children in our Sunday School program, and Christian education for our young people is viewed as a high priority by our congregation. Children are able to participate in other parish activities: Many of our Sunday School members participate in the Children’s Choir, which performs approximately six times a year during the 9:00 am service and on Christmas Eve.

Sunday School

Sunday School meets during the 9:00 am service on Sundays in Holy Innocents Hall, a classroom building that was completed and dedicated in 2000. There are three classes: Pre-K through Kindergarten, First Grade through Third Grade, and Fourth and Fifth Grades. Parents and members of the congregation are asked to take an active role in leading and planning the children’s lessons. Outings for Church School families to socialize and get together outside of the classroom are fun for all.

Youth Sunday

When there are five Sundays in a month, the fifth Sunday is designated as “Youth Sunday;” the young people read the Lessons, lead the Prayers of the People, hand out the bulletins, and pass the offering plates at the 9:00 service.

During the tenure of our previous rector, Daily Vacation Bible School was held for one week every summer. This proved to be very popular both with children from our congregation and also with other youngsters in the Key West community.

Other opportunities for children include our annual Easter egg hunt and the traditional Christmas Pageant, which delight young and old alike!

Nursery

A nursery is available for babies and toddlers in the Parish Hall during the 9:00 am Sunday
service and the following coffee hour.

We are actively seeking ways to create a Youth program for teenagers from middle school through high school.
