Music at St. Paul's

St. Paul's Episcopal Church of Key West

Music is an integral part of our ministry, both as part of our services and as outreach to our Key West community. Our organist performs daily noontime concerts that are free and open to the public, alternating his performances between piano and organ. The pipe organ at St. Paul’s is an impressive instrument with which to glorify God. Our chime of bells, which dates to 1891, was recently restored and rings out not only on Sunday mornings but three times most days as our organist plays hymns he has himself transcribed.

St. Paul’s is very fortunate to have an extremely talented and dedicated choirmaster/organist who writes and/or arranges choral anthems for our sung Eucharist and puts together special holiday programs. The year-round choir, including section leaders, has about a dozen members and grows to about twenty with the arrival of our winter season parishioners.

Our organist also performs daily noontime concerts that are free and open to the public, alternating his performances between piano and organ. The pipe organ at St. Paul’s has been restored with several new ranks of pipes added in the past decade. It is an impressive instrument with which to glorify God. Our chime of bells, which dates to 1891, was also recently restored and rings out not only on Sunday mornings but three times most days as our organist plays hymns he has himself transcribed.

St. Paul’s hosts the “Key West Impromptu Concert” series, which brings talented musicians from around the world, and there is also the very popular “Performance at St. Paul’s” one Sunday afternoon each month. This performance series is organized by one of our members and draws from an incredibly talented pool of rising singers and musicians.

St. Paul’s is also well known in Key West for the hugely popular annual Christmas Concert which is a fundraiser for the church’s music program and features dozens of popular local performers. This event is always Standing Room Only.
